2009-10-19 [Rice]: I didn't think people would get it, because the hand was a little small.
The idea of the hand being up by the face is that the hand itself is the mask, if that makes sense, and that her mask is her own skin, so she is a facade in itself and masquarding in her own skin.
Does that make sense?

You, of course, have till' the 31st at midnight (ET time) to come up with a new one if you wish, but the reasoning is that a person holding their fingers to their eyes would not fly at a REAL masquerade ball, and will therefore not fly here.

2009-10-21 [Rice]: 'A Masquerade ball isn't a costume party but a fancy get together where the emphasis is the mask one wears' - Maybe then you should be mores specfic, as I took 'masks ones wear' to mean any kind of mask, and in my opinion the body is the best kind.
Can you not talk to them again please as this picture took my seven hours and killed most of my copic markers. 8/

2009-10-21 [Rice]: There we go, sorry about the confusion, I guess my idea didn't really stand out as much as I would have liked, but oh well.

2009-10-21 [windowframe]: We deliberately emphasised the 'mask' part to make it clear that we wanted masks in the picture, not just fancy costumes. And y'know, emphasising that what we care about is the mask that you'd wear to the masquerade ball. Hence the reasoning that 'if it wouldn't fly at a real masquerade ball, it won't fly here' ;) You seem to have taken that last phrase in isolation and ignored its context in the sentence. So, I reckon the sentence is fine as is. :P Your idea was cool, but just not what we were after, that's all. And I think you're entry looks even better now. :)

2009-10-21 [moira hawthorne]: Im tired of artists quiting b/c they think they dont deserve to play and have fun... im tired of these 'fun' contests being about winning... about who can enter and who cant... and what should win.... I getting tired of contests! period.
I just hate when artists start depreciating their own art and skills and saying they arent worthy to participate... it makes the whole contest thing sick to me... I rather support everyone and honour everyone's best efforts.. no matter what their skill level... talking with artists is more fun than winning...

I personally think the point of contests is the ability to adapt to the themes and try your best. Not to 'satisfy' yourself. I believe that I will never be TRUELY satisfied with anything I do, simpily because there is always something to learn.
My comment was my own silly wee way of complamenting the others on the page, and I shant take it back as I see no reason for such a responce to it.
